About OAP!
OAP! enables deployed service members to register online to request care packages that include many popular and hard to obtain items from home. OAP! then supports these service men and women with monthly care packages until they return to the US. You can also sign up as a sponsor or volunteer.
OAP! believes we can all do something to make a difference in the world. We strive to move beyond personal beliefs about politics and war, and help our troops know they are cared for and have not been forgotten on a human level.
Some of the most popular items include candy and snack foods, dvds, batteries, phone cards, toiletry items, stationary, artwork from children and letters.
How It All Started
In 2006, Daniella joined a foundation that sent military care packages to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. For over a year, she followed several soldiers through their deployment periods, and was moved by how appreciative and strong these individuals were. With such a difficult job, they always managed to say thanks.
Through participating in this program, Daniella found that her correspondence with these soldiers, and time spent putting care packages together for them, was hugely rewarding. In fact, the energy from this project was so contagious that she wanted to do more. Inspired by an article about a program supporting entire units with care packages, she decided to use her motivation to start her own project and Operation: Action Packed! (OAP!) was born.
